Naxos Town to Moutsouna

It is a beautiful day trip from Naxos Town ending to Moutsouna beach (via Potamia, Halki, Filoti, Apreiranthos) where you can enjoy the sea, the sun and have lunch by the beach.

    Potamia

    Lush green valley
    A group of 3 villages, Kato Potamia, Mesi Potamia and Pano Potamia in a beautiful lush and cool narrow valley. You can have a short break at Mesi Potamia or Ano Potamia for a walk to the streams or to discover the old watermills.

    Halki Village

    In Tragea Valley
    Halki with the wonderful neoclassical mansions, is located at the heart of Tragea olive grove vellay and it is surrounded by many important Byzantine churches. You can visit Vallindras distillery and 15 minutes walk leads to the beautiful church of Saint George Diassoritis (9th century AD).

    Filoti Village

    The largest village in Naxos
    The main road of the village is surrounded by cafes and a couple of taverns / restaurants. A massive, over 100 years old plane tree, dominates the main road.

    Apeiranthos Village

    Picturesque with marble paved alleys
    Walk the village in the marble paved alleys with arches above them. You can visit the Apeitanthos Archaeological Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Geological Museum and Agia Kyriaki church (9th century AD). On the way to Apeiranthos (from Filoti), close to the village and next to Agios Ioannis church, "Rotonda Cafe Restaurant" is a place with exceptional view of Naxos, Paros Island and Aegean Sea.

    Moutsouna

    Beach
    A downhill road from Apiranthos leads to Moutsouna (11 Km). It is a picturesque seaside hamlet with fish tavernas lined along the beach. Moutsouna was the port where the emery used to be brought down from the mountains near Koronos by a rope funicular and loaded on to ships. Thers is a beach with fine at the settlement, but you can follow the east coat road to the south to discover more beaches.
